We Are Who We Are!

Science and technology have been our partner in a paramount role in our endeavor to evolution and revolution. Just like us, they have advanced with time. Like from galaxies to Big Bang, from watches to smartwatches, from computers to supercomputers, from security to cyber security, from internet to cloud computing, from robots to machine learning and artificial intelligence, from man on moon to Mars mission, from energy to nuclear energy, from planes to jets, from applications to mobile apps and a sempiternal legion of stuff that we even are not aware of. It is no wonder that a small part of this technologies enables a person like me to write and you to read on the same platform which we collectively call as the blog. And without mentioning the personnel behind all these miracles we have now and are going to have in coming future which make our life so easy and comfortable will be a total injustice not only to the entire community but also to me because I am also one of them: THE ENGINEERS!

Given the above paragraph, you all must have deciphered the purpose of my writing this article and I guess you are right. First and foremost I wish a very Happy Engineers' Day to every engineer whether I know you or not, whether you have changed your profession or not, whether you had failed miserably in your academics or whether you are not an engineer now but were once.

So 15 September marks what we collectively celebrate as Engineers' Day. As a matter of fact someone happened to ask me today how am I feeling today to which I replied in a very feeble manner that it's a normal day and I have got to do my quotidian works like usual but what I didn't say was that as the clock hit 12 in the midnight and a message popped up in one of my WhatsApp group wishing Happy Engineers' Day I felt very very special as an engineer and I will tell you why.

The preliminary stage of engineering is basically supported on three pillars: Physics, Chemistry and Maths. And this stage enable you to see literally everything and anything according to their pedagogy and perspective. You start seeing every small thing in your life, be it a pitcher or the cooling effect of the refrigerator or the spin of the ball, everything is science. At this stage, all you know is that you are preparing your mind for engineering but what you don't know is that there lies a world there which is way beyond these subjects, albeit everything depends on them.

Then comes the entry in the core engineering world and I bet that this is one of the most memorable life journeys in an engineer's life. You find yourself in 'x' acres bounded region which is basically a boundless scope for you to express and showcase yourself to learn and grow in the unlimited opportunities at your standing at your gateway. You see the wonders of humanity in your books. You see and perform the miracles carried out by someone like you in your labs. You go and implement things you have learnt so far in the real world and while doing that you learn and grasp more. You carry out various projects that aim to improve the current systems or invent something new of its kind. And all this is too much fun that we love doing what we do.

Well why engineers are special has no specific rejoinder but I can try to tell why: simply because time and tide wait for none but engineers can even stop them. You see from every simple thing in our life to the every great invention this human race can come across there lies a hand of an engineer. I am not being vainglorious here but the car: we drive; internet: we use; mobile: our life; laptop: we work upon; electricity: running this world; roads: we use; buildings and skyscrapers: our lifeline; aeroplane: we fly in: heavy machinery: manufactures unlimited number of items, everything was invented and are build by the engineers.

I felt so special because I know literally everything I see today around me is a result of a team of people where each individual is like me: An engineer. And we all must accept the fact that neither we realize nor we give the credits and appreciation engineers deserve for what they have given us. Well, I know everyone must be busy celebrating and wishing the engineers what all of us collectively forget is to thank them. And therefore I would like to say to each and every engineer: Thank You.

In the end, I will just like to state that we are not important, we are necessary and I read somewhere and it aptly points out us:
We are cheaters, but we do not cheat humanity.
We hate to study, but we love technology.
We flirt with flirters, but we are true lovers.
World can't change us, but we can change the world.
Because we are who we are. We are the Engineers!
